There is an article by an artilleryman in the 1st AL Battalion originally published in the _Confederate Veteran_ by G. T. Taylor. Just got a comment from a lady that used to work there that I thought was interesting:

"I just read about 'The Prison Experiance In Elmira N.Y.' I found it interesting since the location is in Horseheads, N.Y. at the holding place, as it is called today. The buildings still stand. Factorys had come and gone from these old building, also Fed- EX, and UPS were also located on this site, Years ago I use to work in a factory at this site, I always had a uneasy feeling when there; I left the job. But whenever I go by the holding point, I always look for some odd reason. I always knew it held prisoners from World War II, but I never knew of the Civil War. [There's ] never any mention of that here."
