Re: Land's Company of Alabama Militia

There were seven related Parsons families in Jefferson County, AL in 1860; the descendants of seven brothers that came to West Jefferson County between 1818 and 1838. The old Parsons family history notes list at least 22 "sons" as having served in the Confederate Army, with very scant information about their service records. At least 16 "sons" are simply noted as having been killed or died in CSA service.
One son, Robert Parsons, born about 1827 is listed as having died during the War! He is mostlikely the one you have found in Land's Company.
Several of the Parsons' "sons" are documented in the 18th and 28th AL Inf. and now the 12th AL Inf. (Thanks to help from this site).
Robert Parsons was the son of Jack Parsons and Mary Cox Parsons, Uncle and Aunt of our GGgrandfather, Robert Samuel Parsons. Robert also had a brother, John, b. 1835 listed as "died in CSA service"
Thanks for the additional information.
We wish the old folks had kept better records, but I suppose the survivors were too busy trying to stay alive after the War.
