During the short time I have been looking at this board and other web sites I have read copies of letters where soldiers have written home asking that certain items be sent to them. I have not read anything about the mail delivery system during this time. Its seems to me that it would have been very difficult for the mail carriers to keep up with the location of the various units, especially the ones on the front lines. I have also read parts of letters stating that a person had sent things back home by a certain individual. Did the various units have their own mail carriers?
