Your webpages say that he was born "about" 1849. If he was born in 1849, he was probably not in any type of service in the war. He would have only been 16 in 1865. If he was born in 1848, there is a possibility that he would have been in the Jr. Reserves. Use the search feature of this site for more info on those units, which generally consisted of 17 year olds.
