In Response To: William PEARSON ()

"William Pearson (1832-1903) was the son of Richmond Pearson (1804-1840) and Alade Delphia Phelps Pearson. he was married in 1859 to Charity Reach, with whom he sired two children before volunteering for service early in 1862. His service, in Company B, 44th Alabama, was uneventful until the Battle of Chickamauga when a minie ball went through one leg and lodged in the other, a projectile which he carried for a number of years before it was removed. This bit of memorabilia is still in the possession of the family.

From The Orphan's Travail, we learn what it was like to scratch for a living on the one-horse farm of Elder McElroy in the post-war years...."

This is taken from Charles E. Boyd's The Devil's Den, which you should be able to find available in larger libraries. I did not reproduce the part from The Orphan's Travail, but it's about 1 1/4 pages long.
