The only printed sources I'm aware of are these:

(1) Boyd, Charles E. The devil's den: a history of the 44th Alabama Volunteer Infantry Regiment, Confederate States Army, 1862-1865. (Birmingham, AL : Banner Press, 1987);
(2) Goodson, Joab. "The letters of Captain Joab Goodson, 1862-64," in Alabama Review, pt. 1, X (April 1957),126-153; pt. 2, X (July 1957), 215-31; and
(3) Little, R. H. A year of starvation and plenty; or, how a Confederate soldier suffered from hunger and cruelty in a prison of war during the awful days of the sixties. (Belton, TX [reprinted, Waco, TX : Texian Press, 1966])

I maintain a bibliography of Alabama regimental histories, noted below.
