AL. Vol. Calvary-Col. Newman's Reg.

My second great grandfather, Burrell Verner Pace from DeKalb Co. Al served as a private in Col.Newman's Regiment of Alabama Volunteer Calvary--this is listed on his widow/s pension application. He died at the notorious Camp Douglas Chicago, Ill. in January 1865. I have had little success in tracing more information about where this unit served. It seems likely that he was captured sometime around the time of the battle of Nashville, Dec 1864, but I am only guessing. Is there any information available? JPark
