I'm looking for information on my gggrandfather, Benjamin F Guttery, born May 27, 1834. The Guttery family resided in Walker County, Alabama. Benjamin served in the 1st Alabama Calvary (US), as did his brothers, William, Robert, and Henry. After the war ended, they returned home to their families but were no longer welcome in the community and moved to other parts of Alabama and Tennessee. I would like to know more about the 1st Alabama Calvary and the men who were willing to face community rejection to fight on the Union side.
