Also known as Armistead's Regiment or the 16th Confederate Cavalry. Does the application say 8th Alabama Cavalry?

Company "H" of Armistead's Regiment was recruited in Jasper County MS, enlisting at Paulding MS on Oct. 8, 1863, as a supporting force for the Conscript Bureau. In the late winter/early spring of 1864 most Conscript Bureau companies were reassigned to front-line units, this one being ordered to report to Col. Armistead at Demopolis Al on Mar. 20, 1864. Being somewhat under the prescribed strength, a number of Alabamians from the "Stonewall Rangers", Capt. David Hitt Williams, transferred in order to increase its numbers. Captains were B. F. Kennedy and James B. Isbell.

For what it's worth, Company "H" of Livingston's 8th was from Walker County, while Company "H" of Ball's-Hatch's 8th was recruited in Greene, Perry and Marengo Counties. Do you know where Mr. Grice lived in 1860?
