According to E. T. Boland of Co. F, 13th Alabama, who wrote an article for the National Tribune dated 20 May 1915, the company had 17 men captured at Gettysburg on the first day (1 July 1863), including E. T. Boland and John Hendrix. (This occurred during the famous encounter with the Iron Brigade.) Another member of the company, Francis Marion Pope of Opelika was also captured at Gettysburg, according to the 1907 census of Lee Co., AL.
