New Information - Culpepper, Virginia
In Response To: 25th Ala ()

Mr. Jones:

Seeing new information about Culpeper, Virginia. There is a new printing of "Marching Through Culpeper", A Civil War Novel of Culpeper, Virginia, by Virginia Morton, fifth printing. It is available from Edgehill Books at website:
www.edgehillbooks.com. "Marching Through Culpeper" was mentioned in today's edition of the "Washington Times" newspaper. As you know, Culpeper, Virginia, was strategically located in proximity to several major Civil War battlefields. The Battle of Culpeper being one major battle.

Other topics in today's "Washington Times" weekly Civil War page include Civil War music and attempts at Civil War germ warfare. Civil War medicine is very popular around Washington, D.C., Virginia, and Maryland.

What do you need from Virginia records? I can look up some information. Do you need any information looked up? Please help me find Warren Anderson Mitchell from Camp Watts, near Notasulga, Alabama. He was a Georgia homeboy.
He enlisted on or about March 1862. Mr. Mitchell died at Camp Watts on November 20, 1862, from pnuemonia, while on duty in the recruiting office. He was taken home to Clinton, Jones County, Georgia.

Mr. Mitchell's widow, Lucinda Christian Mitchell, survived Sherman's March to the Sea. But his records are only as good as the date. Therefore, while I have a copy of Lucinda Christian Mitchell's Confederate Widow's Pension Claim Number 3655, Jones County, Georgia, dated 1891, it is a hard problem to locate his Confederate Service record.

Do you have any information about Camp Watts? Do you think that he deserves to be listed in the Confederate Roster of Soldiers? In the next three years they will figure it out. O.K., it is e-mail records.
