The microfilm shows forty-four members on roll, stationed at Gadsden Ala. on Nov. 26, 1863. The command (it wasn't large enough to form a company) was organized in St. Clair County on Nov. 16, 1863 as a supporting force for the Conscript Bureau. Many members were either under eighteen or over forty-five years of age; presumably all others were legally exempt from military service.

Capt. William F. Morris was thirty-eight years old at hte time. I didn't have time to check any prior military service on him.

Given that the Conscript Act of Feb. 17, 1864 would have placed about half the members of Capt. Morris' command in the Junior or Senior Reserves, I don't this unit had a long shelf life. There are no records on file other than the muster roll.
