He enlisted in Company "I", 11th Alabama Infantry Regiment, on Sept. 1, 1863. The records show the last name as both "Sykes" and "Sikes"; middle initial either "T" or "F". Which is correct?

An officer from Mississippi named E. T. Sykes was A.A.G. on Brig. Gen. Walthall's staff. A possible family relation?

This man's captain would have been Lemuel Harris, mortally wounded at the Crater, July 30, 1864. Here's a report on his death:
