Re: 11th Alabama Infantry at Frazier's Farm

The list of engagements included Seven Pines, Gaines Mill, Frazier's Farm, 2nd Manassas, Sharpsburg, Fredericksburg, Salem Church, Gettysburg, Mine Run, Wilderness, Spotsylvania, Hanover Junction, Atlee's Station, Turkey Ridge, Wilcox's Farm, Reams Station (1st), Kautz & Wilson's Raid, the Crater, White's Tavern, Davis' Farm, Reams Station (2nd) and Burgess' Mill. I'd have to check my files at home for actions taking place in the late stages of the siege of Petersburg and the Appomattox Campaign.

Lt.Col. Hale was also a Confederate Congressman. As for Gaines Mill, as the afternoon wore on, brigade commanders of Longstreet's Division met to discuss the situation. Describing the ditch near the base of the hill where the Federal left rested, General Pryor offered his opinion that his men could not cross the obstruction. General Wilcox suggested that his men could get over it, and Longstreet gave Wilcox permission to lead the attack with his own brigade, as well as that of Pryor and Featherston.

There is some debate as to whether this attack or Jackson's created the first break in the Federal position. Both took place about the same time and were successful. However, casualties in Wilcox's Brigade were not as heavy as they were three days later at Frazier's Farm.

Aside from the Seven Days, most commendable actions involving this brigade were Salem Church VA (May 3, 1863), Gettysburg PA (July 2, 1863) and the Crater (July 30, 1864).
