I agree that we should post the information on the message board for all to see and for purposes of discussion- which is also very important in getting new ideas and for reviewing results.

As this would be a long-term, on-going project; we would need someplace else to store the information that we are accumulating and to begin to shape if into some usable form. If we could agree on a standardized format to display the data- an excel file with specified column headings (killed- died by disease- wounded- captured, etc.), then it would be easy to add to it by regiment as people finished their particular studies. It would make it possible to collect information on all Alabama military units, or only the ones people are interested in.

We would need to agree on the information we would like to post for each regiment- for instance (and there may be others):

total enrollment in regiment; killed in battle; died from wounds/disease; wounded; discharged; resigned; captured; missing; and deserted/AWOL.

I would be glad to be the person to collect the information from everyone and put it in a chart and periodically send to you (and the message board) for posting. I would just need to know when someone has something that is in final form to be posted.
