Providence?
That's something attributed to the kindness of God, a special favor from the Lord, a gift from above. Like being born and raised as a Southerner AND having Confederate ancestry in each of your family lines. It's not a miracle because natural laws haven't been violated; it's providence because it's something special God has done that you didn't deserve.
Some of us heard that term the first time when Fess Parker, playing the part of Davy Crockett, used it to describe a favorable event at the Alamo.
Providence?
I really can't guess, unless it should be "provost", as in provost guard. Let's check the name in the CSA index and see where this man belongs.
