The United Confederate Veterans was a national organization with local "camps" that enabled veterans to maintain and re-kindle relationship begun during the war. The Louisiana State University library has a large collection of records from the organization. They could possibly be helpful with information concerning your ancestor's particular camp. Check out the link below. The successor organization to the UCV is the Sons of Confederate Veterans. There is a local camp in Tallassee, and they might have some information on the original UCV camp.
