Harry Theophilus TOULMIN, born 4 Mar 1838 in Mobile, AL; died 12 Nov 1916 in Mobile, AL, son of Theophilus Lindsey TOULMIN (General) and Amante Elizabeth DE JUZAN OR JUZAN. He married on 4 May 1869 Mary Montague HENSHAW, born abt 1851 in VA.

BIRTH: 'History of AL and Dictionary of AL Biography', by Thomas McAdory Owen

OCCUPATION: IBID, lawyer and Judge of the Southern District of AL

MILITARY: IBID states that Harry participated in the following battles as a Capt of Co H, 22nd AL infantry: Shiloh, Perrysville, Murfreesboro and Chickamauga. As Colonel of the Regt he participated in the battles of Atlanta and all subsequent battles the Army of TN participated in, except Franklin and Nashville.
SHILOH, TN
The 22nd AL commanded by Z.C. Deas (w) was part of the 1st brigade commanded by Brig Gen Adley H. Gladden (mw), part of the 2nd division commanded by Brig Gen Jones M. Withers, part of the 2nd army corps commanded by Major Gen Braxton Bragg, part of the Army of the MS commanded by General Albert Sidney Johnston (k).
Harry was wounded at Shiloh and promoted to Major.
MUMFORDSVILLE
PERRYVILLE, KY
STONE'S RIVER, TN
The 22nd AL was part of the 1st brigade commanded by Col J.Q. Loomis (w), part of the 2nd division commanded by Major Gen Jones M. Withers, part of Lt Gen Leonidas Polk's corps, part of the Army of TN commanded by General Braxton Bragg.
Brigade loss: 53 killed, 533 wounded, 5 missing
CHICKAMUAGA, GA, 19-20 Sep 1863
This battle was a Confederate victory.
The 22nd AL commanded by Lt Col John Weedon (k) and Capt Harry T. Toulmin, was part of Brig Gen Zachariah C. Deas' brigade, part of Major Gen Thomas C. Hindman's (w) division, part of the left wing commanded by Lt Gen James Longstreet, part of the Army of TN commanded by General Braxton Bragg.
Brigade loss: 123 killed, 578 wounded, 28 missing.
Regt loss: 371 present, 44 killed, 161 wounded
CHATTANOOGA (Missionary Ridge), TN, 23-27 Nov 1863
This battle was a Union victory.
The 22nd AL commanded by Lt Col B.R. Hart, was part of Brig Gen Z.C. Deas' brigade, part of Hindman's division commanded by Brig Gen J. Patton Anderson, part of Major Gen John C. Breckinridge's Corps, part of the Confederate Army commanded by General Braxton Bragg.
Division loss: 76 killed, 476 wounded, 1124 missing
ATLANTA, GA, 3 May - 8 Sep 1864
This campaign was a Union victory.
The 22nd AL commanded by Lt. Col H.T. Toulmin et al, was part of Brig Gen Z.C. Deas' brigade, part of Major Gen T.C. Hindman's division, part of Lt Gen John B. Hood's Corps, part of the Army of TN commanded by General Joseph E. Johnston and General John B. Hood.
CAMPAIGN IN THE CAROLINAS (Kinston, Bentonville), March 1865
Col H.T. Toulmin commanded the 22nd AL, which was part of Brig Gen W.F. Brantly's brigade, which was part of Major Gen D.H. Hill's division, which was part of Lt Gen S.D. Lee's Corps, which was part of the Army of TN commanded by General Joseph E. Johnston.
On 26 Apr 1865, the army of TN surrendered near Durham Station, NC.
