This may be related:

HANSON, John W., Private, [2nd] Pickens Greys ["for home defense"] (Born 1816 in Ga. Unable to serve in the war due to a medical condition, he was contracted to provide supplies to the cavalry of Gen. Nathan Bedford Forrest from his store in Olney. Died 1879.)

For those not familiar with the area, Bridgeville and Olney are just a few miles from Sipsey Mills, roughly forming an inverted triangle with Sipsey Mills at the bottom. Each leg of the triangle would be about five miles. Adams attacked Croxton via Bridgeville to Sipsey Mills. The Bridgeville home guard was part of the force that moved northward toward Carrollton, and intercepted a company detached by Croxton.
