I am researching this William McNeal 28th AL Confederate Infantry Regiment to see if he could be my great-grandfather. I sent a request to the Alabama Archives and they could not find anything on him and I am in the process of requesting info from the National Archives. I do have the book "Those Gallant Men of the 28th AL Confederate Inf. Regt". I know he enlisted in Jasper, Walker Co. AL 4/1/1862. Pvt. Co. L. Captured and sent to Rock Island 12/9/1863 and took oath 4/21/1864. What other info can I expect, if any, from the National Archives? Also, does anyone else have any further info on him? Thank you.
