Anyone who served during the Indian War of 1836 would have been an older man by 1861. W. W. [Willis] Bobo enlisted in Co. "D", 31st Alabama Regt., Mar. 27, 1862, Corn Grove AL. Also known as Old Daviston, this community can be found in the SE corner of Calhoun County. Bobo enlisted at age 49, which matches W. Bobo on the 1860 census for Talladega County AL. It may be that in 1860 the Talladega line bordered Calhoun near Corn Grove.

Willis Bobo received a discharge for disability near Blain's Crossroads TN, Aug. 2, 1862. His papers include personal data which might be useful to you.

During the following months W. W. Bobo improved sufficiently to reenlist in Co. "E", 22nd Alabama Regt. Pay records date from Feb. 24, 1863. The service file records his death in Calhoun County, Oct. 17, 1863. Cause of death is not stated.

According to the 1860 census, this man owned two slaves. The 1850 census (also Talladega County) is more helpful. Evidently he moved from Georgia about 1842. The 1840 census lists a household with a man in his range in Floyd County GA. There's also a Willis Bobo living in Forsyth Co. GA.
