All of us would dearly love to see the picture, but I'm not sure how were'd be able to tell what branch of service this man happened to be in at the time.

Homer, while it's certainly true that records of Capt. Brown's mounted company are filed with Barbiere's Battalion, I see no reason to associate the two. We have no evidence Brown's Company was ever assigned to Barbiere's command. Both commands were recruited to provide for the need for military police units in Alabama. However, they always operated in different parts of the state: Brown's along the Florida line, and Barbiere's in northeast Alabama.
