There were at least two training sites in Tuscaloosa. One was where the park is downtown, where the Old Tavern stands. The other was on the quad of the University. The 41st Alabama Infantry was still in training camp in Tuscaloosa as of June 15, 1862. Several units were trained in Tuscaloosa by the cadets from the University (including the 41st).
