Thank you for responding. You are quite right. The whole paroles and exchange deal can be very confusing. As for my ancestor, he reported to Demopolis according to his pension papers. He went on to rejoin his regiment (30th Ala. Infantry)and continued to fight until he was captured in South Carolina in 1865 and sent to Hart's Island, New York.
