My GGgrandfather Joel S. Morton was with the 49th Ala Regt Co I and was wounded at the battle of Shiloh. He was sent back to Ala and did not return until Dec of 1862. I think he received $44 while he was healing. When he returned he was captured at Port Hudson La. in 1863. I lose he after May of 1864 and have not found any records of him after that. His wife remarried in Feb of 1865 and moved to Tx after the War.
