Found in the Mobile Register & Advertiser of Sept. 10, 1862 the following;
FLAG PRESENTATION- There was a large assemblage of ladies and gentlemen
yesterday at the camp of the 40th Alabama regiment near the Bay Road, on the
occasion of the presentation of a beautiful flag to the Regiment by W. A. Jamison
of this City.....
The flag was received with an eloquent response by Col. A. A. Coleman,.....and by
him placed in the hands of Color-Sgt. N. E. THOMAS....

I have not been able to find any further reference to the named Color-Sgt.
Can anyone give further details as to that man's service record?
