During the spring and summer of 1864, Tayloe's rank was Lieutenant Colonel, not Colonel. Colonel of the 11th Alabama Regiment was J C C Saunders, promoted Brigadier General May 31, 1864, but killed at the Weldon Railroad, Virginia, August 21, 1864, prior to confirmation by the Senate. Tayloe commanded the regiment while Saunders led the brigade as senior colonel. Tayoe was promoted Colonel October 31, 1864 to rank August 21, 1864.

Regarding Garrett Klenner, he entered the army as a substitute for William R Bowling. The ADAH transcription inserts QM before the name William Bowles, but that must be a mistake. Neither one of these men (Klenner and Bowling) ever served as QM Sergt or AQM (Captain).
