I am searching for information about my great grandfather, John Gibson. His middle name might have been Sinclair. His son, my grandfather, is said to have been orphaned during the Civil War and ultimately sent to an orphanage in New Orleans. His mother's name was Mary. I have searched all online sources available to me and have found no documentation about this family. His mother, according to family records and census information, was born in Scotland, and his father (John) born in New York. My grandfather was born 8 May 1862. His name is (was) Arthur Cinclair Gibson. The few cousins I have living don't have any information, nor can I discover how my grandfather knew his birthdate and place of birth (Mobile).
