Dawn, I am so excited to read your message, because it looks like you are a relative I did not Know about. My grandfather was Arthur Cinclair Gibson, and he was your great grandfather. But I'm afraid I have more questions than information. If you read my original post on this thread, you know that I have not documented what Arthur's parents' last name was. We assume it was Gibson, but also because of the many of Arthur's children (boys) and their children carry the "Cinclair" middle name, an assumption logically follows that name is either Mary's or someone in John's upline. I have run down and ruled out several John Gibsons that I found in Civil War lists and am working on one now. His name was John A. Gibson married to Mary Ennis; lived in Pike County AL. He appears in the 1850 US census w/mother named Delany and several siblings and the 1860 census with Mary as wife and 3 small children (but not yet Arthur who was born in 1862 according to family oral history). The Civil War Muster Rolls show him enlisting in the 37th AL Infantry Regiment in Spring Hill AL on March 17, 1862. His death is reported in 1862. Did he die before Arthur was born? Family oral history says Arthur was born in Mobile County in May 1862. PLEASE NOTE that I have not confirmed that this John Gibson was Arthur's father. I'm still researching it. I would like to continue corresponding with you. Please answer me MGJ015@satx.rr.com.
