I've already mentioned speaking with a service officer about this. He could not recall all the other officers and men he served with. Failing at that, I tried something a different analogy. If there is some basis for combat service providing a man with perfect memory and recall of past events, I have no knowledge of it. Evidence from Confederate Veteran Magazine and other wartime recollections frequently demonstrates that two men who witnessed the same event often have very different and conflicting versions of it.

Finally, many of my responses to posts on these CW boards concern unwarranted assumptions. Sometimes they don't set well with people. Evidently this is one of those unfortunate occasions.
