T. J. Thomason, Private, Company K, 14th Alabama Infantry Regiment was in all engagements except Gettysburg, until October 1864. He was severely wounded at Salem Church. He recovered and rejoined the Regiment soon after Gettysburg. He was severely wounded in action in October 1864 near Petersburg while charging a Federal battery. The shell that wounded him killed seven and wounded thirteen in his company. He was wounded three other times. He was on crutches at the surrender. (Confederate Veteran Magazine, Volume XXXVI, 1928, page 426.)

The only engagement I have found for the 14th Alabama in October 1864 was on October 27, 1864 at Hatcher's Run/Burgess's Mill, Virginia.
