Often we see Ord., in addition to that of Orderly/1st Sergeant, there was also an Ordnance Sergeant.

In this case however, Jordan was advanced from Private to his companies 1st, or Orderly Sergeant.

G. M. Jordan, Private, Company F, 23rd Regiment Alabama Infantry, enlisted November 25, 1861 at Montgomery for the duration of the war, recorded as 1st Sergeant on the May/June, 1862 muster roll, 3rd Lieutenant Mar/Apr, 1863 muster roll, wounded June 22, 1864, admitted Way Hospital, Meridian, Miss. January 17, 1865, wounded, paroled at Montgomery, Ala. May 27, 1865, description: 5' 11", dark hair, dark eyes, dark complexion
