I have run across more than thirty documents on Egbert J Jones, from marriage to his death after being wounded in both hips at 1st Manassas July 24, 1861 until his death at Orange Hospital, Orange Courthouse, Va. There are conflicting death dates (Aug. 27, Sept. 3 and Sept, 5, 1861. Every document has him listed as Egbert J Jones, not one says what the J stands for.
