Based on affadavites, I believe his death occurred on Sept. 3.

I am speculating that the description "wounded in both hips," to have the same meaning as "wounded through both thighs." This being the CW
politically correct term for a wounding in one's private parts.

Col. Egbert J Jones, 4th Alabama Regt., wounded in both hips at the Battle of Manassas July 21, 1861, died at Orange Court House, September 3, 1861
