Uniform Identification Help Needed

Happy Holiday's All

I was recently contacted by a distant cousin, who found a couple old Ambrotype photo's in an Attic, one a Soldier the other a Lady. They are clearly WBTS ERA, when she asked her 91 yr old G.Uncle who the Soldier and the Lady were, he told her they were ancestors of his wife, and they were buried at Hopewell Cemetery, Hanceville Cullman Co. So she looked at her family tree records and the only relative who was both in the War and buried in that cemetery, was Joseph Allred and his second wife Emily Amanda Waites. The problem with this photo of the soldier, is it appears to be a Union Soldier. I told her that it is possible, the Uniform could be a pre-war Militia uniform? I told her to be certain, I would post the pic and maybe a more experienced person, familiar with WBTS Uniforms and Unit histories might help identify the uniform, and maybe give us clue to the identity of the Soldier?
Joseph enlisted in the 29th Al Inf in Sept. 1861. in Blount Co Al. I know some early Unit's were issued pre-war militia uniforms, I remember the friendly fire incidents at Bull Run Va because of this. Does any one know if the 29th Inf was originally supplied with these militia Uniform?
Also can some one tell me how to post the photo on here so that someone can help identify the uniform?

thanks
