Upon looking further at his CMSR, it seems Joseph, originally joined Co C, 4th Bttn Al Vol's in Sept 1861 untill Feb 1862, when, I assume, it reorganized as Co C 29th Al Inf? So the 4th Bttn Vol's were an AVG group and they would have had Pre-War Militia outfits? Do you know anything about the History of the 4th Bttn Vol's?
