Briggs for 3 years or during the war, reported missing following the battle of Corinth, Miss, October 3-5, 1862, taken prisoner and paroled at Bolivar, Tennessee, October 13, 1862, captured at Vicksburg, Miss. July 4, 1863, sent to Jackson, Miss. for exchange, subsequently paroled, receipted for issues of clothing April 30 and June 30, 1864, captured at Atlanta, Ga. July 22, 1864, received at Camp Chase, Illinois prison August 1, paroled and transferred to City Point, Va., March 2, 1865, for exchange, states he was conscripted, resident of Dutchess County, N. Y., florid complexion, light hair, blue eyes, 5' 10-1/2"
