Isaiah Griffin, 6th Sergeant, Company B, 2nd Battalion Alabama Light Artillery, enlisted March 1, 1862 in Mobile/Washington County by Capt. Waters for the war, recorded on October 2, 1862 as a Private and absent, sick remaining so through the end of the year, subsequently on February 28, 1863 he was recorded absent, sick since November 14 by authority Surgeon, Surgeons certificate of disability dated March 2, 1863, Lewis C. Pynchon, Surgeon,* Prin Hospital, Rome, Ga., indicates he was unfit for duty 60 days, Phltiois Pulomnalis [sp?], discharged April 2, 1863 at Rome, Ga., his pay due of $13.15 is recorded as having been received by the Quarter Masters May 30, 1864, receipt filed 1863, date of death not stated, description, 26 year old Farmer, born in North Carolina, 6’ 2”, fair complexion, blue eyes, dark hair

M311: Compiled Service Records of Confederate Soldiers Who Served in Organizations from the State of Alabama

Assuming he was paid on February 28 and his pay due up to the date of his death was $13.15, the pay rate for a Private being $11.00 per month, I suspect he died about April 6, 1863 in hospital at Rome, Ga.

**Looks like Prin to me.

There are no known records of any of these hospitals I can identify
