While compiling information of the dead at the Camp Chase Confederate Cemetery yet another saltpeter cave has been mentioned concerning a soldier who died at Camp Chase. Sauta Cave perhaps supplied more saltpeter to the Confederacy while in existence and was located in Jackson County, Alabama. Mr. Marion O. Smith has written an article about Sauta Cave and its importance to the Confederacy in his article, "Saltpeter Mining and the Civil War in Jackson County, Alabama"
