Re: N. Gurley, 21st AL Inf. Co. F

Rick,
I feel pretty sure that this N. Gurley is my Nicholas Gurley. His wife is listed as a widow on the 1870 census, per another searcher. I have not found the census - yet. I was hoping for an age in the information. The N. Gurley in the 38th is not him as those documents give the age of 20 years old. Nicholas was between 33-35 at the time of this enlistment. Do you have any idea what the notation of "Spring Hill" was? A cemetery perhaps? Also, apparently Ross Hospital and General Hospital Alabama are two different institutions. I know that Ross Hospital was in Mobile and became the Marine Hospital later.

Thank you for your input. I guess I will need to order his file to know for sure.

Barbara
