P. N. G. Rand, 2nd Lieutenant, Leighton Rangers, "We, the undersigned, have formed ourselves this day into a Company of Volunteers for the purpose of home defence, for the term of six months, under the name of the Leighton Rangers, and hereby tender our services to Col. P. D. Roddey, Commanding District of North Alabama, for the term above specified, to be attached to his command to be confined to the District of North Alabama, with all the privileges of Confederate Troops."
