Re: Lafayette Mayfield-First AL Cav USA

Thank you kindly, Mr. B., it's always nice to see anything related to the 1st AL Cav USA, as the names on its roster are but the names one hears at my family reunions. I'm kin to every Cagle, every Lovett, every Dickenson, every Casslebury/Castleberry etc.,etc. that were in the 1st AL, as well as to several other solitarily named grandpas and great uncles. I know that everyone of the First knew my various family members, and I feel bad this fellow's stone is incorrect.

I put this newspaper item on my old website 15 years ago. Mr. Pete Parrish of Winston County immediately sent me an e-mail saying that he knew exactly where the grave was, and had just put up a stone to mark it. I assumed it was correctly written, and never went to see the grave, even though I was living in Lawrence County at the time. I have been back home in South TX for 10 years now, and just recently found out the stone says CSA.

Thanks for the pic.

Regards,
Hoyt
