I just recently found that my GGrandfather Benjamin F. Briggs enlisted in the 16th Alabama Infantry Company B at Courtland in Lawrence Co., the muster roll dated July 18, 1861 has him a private. Also I found his name on the National Park Service web site as Benjamin F. Briggs, Brigg, B.F./Benjamin F. Bugg as ALTERNATE NAME in the 16th Regiment Tennessee Cavalry. At first I thought that it must be someone else, then I looked up the 1870 census and every family member is listed as Bugg. Anyways, that is why I'm posting, is it possible that it is the same person? How do I go about finding any more info on him?
