I do not believe this Alexander Wallace Starke returned to serve and suggest the letter writer may
have been a Newspaper Reporter

Residence Pike County AL; a 32 year-old Lawyer.
Enlisted on 7/3/1861 at Pike County, AL as a 3rd Lieut.
On 7/3/1861 he was commissioned into "I" Co. AL 15th Infantry
He Resigned on 5/1/1862 at Swift Run Gap, VA
(Resigned on account of failing health)
Other Information: born in Virginia
(Died soon after the war of consumption)
After the War he lived in Pike County, AL
