That appears correct. Had I consulted the December 9, 1864 edition of the Troy Southern Advertiser before posting, my question as to the identity of the company would have been answered. See below. However, nothing conclusive indicating this A.W. Starke was Alexander Wallace Starke, formerly Lieut. Co. I, 15th Alabama Infantry.

Capt. Starke, commanding the volunteer militia company from this county, left this place last Wednesday, en route for Pollard. The company had before been called into the service and had gained much credit for their soldierly bearing and promptness. Through the instrumentality of Capt. Starke, the entire company was furloughed, and when the order to revoke all details came, the company was not disbanded or held liable to conscription. This was quite a compliment to the officers and men of the company. They are mostly a stout set of fellows, large number of whom have seen service before, and led by their officers, if opportunity offers, will win distinction. Gov.
