What does "inst." after a date mean?

Dear Board,

In reading charges brought up against a soldier, there is an abbrevation "inst." I cannot figure out. Here's an example:

"For remaining out of camp without persmission and thereby neglecting his duty, from the 3rd day of March, inst. until the 5th or 6th day of same month,in direct violation of orders."

Would it happen to be an abbrevation for the year the event happened? That is the closest I can come to in figuring out what it means.

Thanks in advance for your help.
