He is most likey the major refered to in the previous post: Major A.J. Piercy, 1st Bn Missouri Cavalry, 1st Indian Brigade. Major Piercey may have been on Price's raid. He was under the command of General D.H. Cooper who commanded the Indian Brigade before and after the raid. Whether Piercey's command was with Cooper during the raid, I'm trying to ascertain. Cooper had been the government agent for the Chocktaws and Chickasaws prior to the war and commanded tribal troops during the war. Piercey most likely commanded a band of Missouri guerillas. Since they operated in Southwest Missouri, Eastern Kansas, and Eastern Oklahoma, they appear to have been placed under Cooper's command at some point. His command also appears to have included some of Stand Watie's Indian troops. A Union report written on April 26, places Piercey's command near Sherman, Tx and refers to them as guerillas.

This quote is from a report made in the O.R. Chapter LIII, page 197: "P. S.- I have no inform you that the enemy is commanded by a Major Piercey, of late date. It is Pickler's command, with a portion of Stand Watie's and a portion of notorious bushwhackers with Rusk's company."
