Jerry... I would like to acquire a copy of the National Tribune article. I am interested in the Marmaton Massacre and Major Piercey (have also seen it spelled Pearcey) and his background.

The soldier wounded at Cow Creek, Kansas was Private William H. Brown, Company D, 18th Iowa Infantry. He was shot an astounding sixteen times during the action, carrying one pound, three and one half ounces of weight from the numerous bullet wounds. There is a photo of Brown in Civil War Times Illustrated, January 1964, Dr. Harry J. Warthen, "Some Were Mighty Hard to Kill.", Volume 4, Number 6, and details given in Jim Meyer's book, Iowa Valor, pAGE 391.

I have gathered quite a bit of material on the Marmaton Massacre that I would be willing to share.
