Re: G-Grandfather's Burial, a suggestion

Hello. Bryan has said it nicely and with some information to go with it.
However, I would suggest you write the local paper at Pocohontas with your request for information. I would believe that there is some person in that area who has a really good idea of where your ancestor was laid to rest. If there is a historical society in the area, they know who knows that sort of thing.
I am thinking you are out in Texas as we say. If you have never really lived in the small Southern towns, you may not realize how things work,
but I would believe it may be different than where you are. So my suggestion is to try writing and contacting the people who reside in that area.
Just last year I made a photo for a Yankee soldier's descendent. After the war ended, the soldier was supposedly moved to Little Rock, but is not listed in the records up there according to the lady. Several people in my area are of the opinion that the original burial spot is still the spot and he was never distrubed. So I went out with my camera, snapped the photo of the area he was buried in originally and mailed it off to the lady. She was quite pleased.
With yours being CSA, wherever he was laid, his remains are still in that spot of Arkansas soil. Folks talk that kind of stuff such as where the Confederate soldiers were buried and all kinds of other old tales.
So just ask, as nothing ventured is nothing gained. Even if you never hear a word from anyone, you will have the satisfaction of knowing that you tried.
Good luck!
Linda
