Capt. John AP Fleming

My ggfather was sent by the gov. of Ill. to Little Rock on 2-9-1864. He was in what was called Steeles Expedition (to flush out and kill Gen Shelby)
In August they were attacked by Steele and retreated.
Co H was paroled at Jacksonport Ark to Benton Barricks, Mo
Sep 9, 1864.
In Dec, 1864, Capt. John A P Fleming was dishonorably discharged after a three year stint of DISTINGUISHED SERVICE.

Can anyone find out what could have happened?
Thank you
Candy Lovins
